Bat For Lashes - New Band Announcement

Hello fellow bat friends!

I hope this finds you all well.
Sooo, I have been away for a very long time it feels, writing many songs, visiting the awe inspiring Joshua Tree desert, making films, living in Brooklyn - (soaking up amazing bands like Amazing Baby, Gang Gang Dance, Brightside, Moon and Moon, Lewis and Clarke, Caroline Weeks, Bon Iver) and getting rehearsed for the upcoming Radiohead tour. (ahhh!)

So i would like to introduce to you "The Blue Dreams", who will be my new and very magically talented backing band!

Caroline Weeks - flute, keys, autoharp, guitar, vocals, drum
Ben Christophers - Harp, Marxophone, pianochord, synths, guitar and phono-fiddle!
Katherine Mann (Quinta) - Violin, viola, clarinet, saw, marxophone, drum and vocals
Alex Thomas - Drums, electronic pads, percussion and timpanis
and i will be playing piano, harpsichord, autoharp, percussion, bass and singing.

I have brought 4 new songs in to the live set, which have been arranged with much excitement and spontaneous need of dance routines! I am so proud and happy about how the new ones are shaping up and cant wait to continue recording the new album after the tour.

I hope to see some of you during June and July, and that you have a lovely summer peace out!

So, as you may or may not know, the Bat For Lashes site will be a little quieter for a while, as Natasha is currently off working on writing the next album.

She would like to thank everyone who has supported Bat For Lashes so far, it has been an incredible year! Natasha tells us her highlights were hearing her orchestral arrangements for real at Koko's, and travelling through deserts, forests and cities for the latest cross country US tour which was a wonderful and memorable experience for the whole Fur and Gold band!

Obviously due to Natasha being holed up somewhere writing new songs there are no plans for live shows for the foreseeable future. However, there will be artwork from the recent KOKO show posted on the Bat For Lashes website soon and we will also keep you informed of any developments and news if and when it happens.

January 28th

The new single 'Prescilla' is being released on the 5th of March as a download and on the 12th of March on enhanced CD. It comes with the b-side 'I'm On Fire' and the enhanced CD conatins an exclusive video.
'Prescilla' has been especially re-recorded for this release. Natasha flew to Brooklyn specifically to work closely with producer Matt Boynton and a horn section to reinterpret 'Prescilla' and produce a more raw, rhythmic and full sound.

The b-side is Natasha's sensual piano ballad version of Bruce Springsteen's 'I'm On Fire'. The cover is now a highlight of the live set, and this version was recorded for Rob Da Bank's radio show and played regularly by him on Radio 1.

The video for Prescilla was directed by Andy Bruntel, who recently shot Will Oldham's video for 'Cursed Sleep'. It is a a bewitching, dark and beautifully shot video including magicians, dreamscapes and lots of flying.

January 18th

January 9th
